Everybody in the world was once a child. We grow up. Our personalities change. But in every one of us, something remains of our childhood.

I started, actually, to make my first animated cartoon in 1920. Of course, they were very crude things then and I used sort of little puppet things.

If you believe in something, believe in it all the way.

I do not make films primarily for children. I make them for the child in all of us, whether he be six or sixty. Call the child innocence.

If you can dream it, you can do it. Always remember that this whole thing was started with a dream and a mouse.

The film can never be the book. But what it can be—if we work hard—is what the book makes us feel. It can be those moments in the book that are everything to us, those characters that are everything to us. We can bring them to the screen with the same feelings and know and accept that we're doing an adaptation.

You'll be a poorer person all your life if you don't know some of the great stories and great poems.

Every child is born blessed with a vivid imagination.
