Past and future exist only in our memory. The present moment though, is outside of time, it's Eternity. It isn;t what you did in the past that will affect the present. It's what you do in the present that will redeem the past and thereby change the future.
Tribesmen were also wary of consulting them, because it would be impossible to be effective in battle if one knew that he was fated to die. The tribesmen preferred the taste of battle, and the thrill of not knowing what the outcome would be; the future was already written by Allah, and what he had written was always for the good of man.
It isn't the desire to abide by the law that makes everyone behave as society requires, but the fear of punishment. Each one of us carries a gallows inside us.
I must have no fear of failure. It was my fear of failure that first kept me from attempting the Master Work.
